Based on research and analysis of development potentials, in order to initiate economic development and utilize the development potentials of the Trilj area, the city of Trilj, in accordance with its Strategic Development Program, in 2015 established the Institution for Research and Dissemination of Knowledge in the Field of Nutrition and Health CEKOM 3LJ.

The desire is to create a prerequisite for supporting the capacity building of the business sector of small and medium-sized enterprises interested in the development of new agricultural products, according to the Smart Specialization Strategy of the Republic of Croatia. By connecting the knowledge and experience of the science and industry sectors, the Institution carries out development and research programs required by the economy, for example, creating new products and services, improving the market position of the economy by increasing the added value of existing products and services, transferring human resources and creating new companies or jobs, connecting higher education institutions and institutes on the one hand and the economy (primarily small and medium-sized enterprises) on the other.

Activities of the CEKOM 3LJ Institution

The CEKOM 3LJ Institution is engaged in the following activities:

• professional research and development in agriculture, food technology, biotechnology, the field of health and nutrition;
• promotion, preparation, implementation and development of programs, projects and similar activities in the field of agriculture, food technology, biotechnology and nutrition;
• encouraging local and regional economies to include and participate in development projects in the field of agriculture, food technology, biotechnology and nutrition;
• preparation of project applications related to calls for proposals or public tenders for co-financing or awarding grants;
• organization and mediation in the construction of economic facilities, preparation of economic projects and studies;
• management of business zones and entrepreneurial incubators;
• organization and information of entrepreneurs through the info center;
• development of all types of projects to attract funds from European Union funds;
• development of business plans and financial budgets;
• preparation of entrepreneurs for the application of European Union standards and norms;
• encouragement of cooperation, technology transfer and commercialization of research results;
• encouragement of the development of technologically based and innovative entrepreneurship;
• organization of fairs;
• establishment of cooperation with foreign financial institutions with the aim of improving technological entrepreneurship in the fields of agriculture, food technology, biotechnology and nutrition;
• advice and assistance in connection with the planning, organization, efficiency and control of agriculture, food technology, biotechnology and nutrition;
• publishing;
• promotion (advertising and propaganda);
• market research and public opinion polling;
• purchase and sale of goods;
• commercial mediation on the domestic and foreign markets;
• maintenance and repair of agricultural equipment and machinery;

The CEKOM 3LJ institution also engages in other common activities in addition to those listed above.
